Eyeglass prescriptions contain abbreviations and numbers that tell us how your lenses should be made.
SPH — Sphere
Indicates the main amount of lens power needed to correct nearsightedness or farsightedness.
CYL — Cylinder
Shows the amount of correction needed for astigmatism.
AXIS
Works with the CYL measurement and identifies the orientation of the astigmatism correction.
ADD
Additional magnifying power used for near vision in multifocal prescriptions, such as progressives or bifocals.
PRISM
Some prescriptions include prism correction. If your prescription contains prism and you're unsure whether we can fill it, please contact us before ordering.
PD — Pupillary Distance
The distance between the centers of your pupils, measured in millimeters.
